In transition

Moved out of Mumbai on 23rd. Could not make it to Solsitice on that day though. Spent good amount of time at ISB the next two days. It was nice to meet my classmates. Bitching about is one of the basest needs of human beings. We did that a lot.

The current ISB students had at least one question for me - why are you leaving consulting & diamond. I repeated myself - once a banker, always a banker. Initially, though I was skeptical about the theme of Drucker's article " Managing Onself" - i.e., you are better off working on your strengths than on your weaknesses - I am now more convinced about its efficacy. I think by being back in banking that is precisely what I will do, work on my strengths.

Will be in Hyderabad till Jan 1st and then move to Chennai to restart my banking career.

PS: This time, definitely intend to write oftener. Was constrained by lack of internet connection. A good mobile internet connectivity has become an issue. GPRS sucks; even reliance / tata data cards suck. Anyone has better suggestions on what is the best way to access internet when on move, most welcome.

Have been reading your blog for sometime. Thought that consulting was very close to your heart after all those blogs on consulting. Came as a shock this shift. I am in banking too....how many years experience you had in banking before ISB and in which bank. I look forward to valuable suggestions from an expert like you. All the best.

Hey Vijay,

Learnt from your blog that you are making the switch...

With the kind of banking experience you have, it does make sense to build upon that...

best of luck in your new job...

Hi Kapil

Umm, it has been a long time.

I appreciate your decision. People make decisions and then look for data points to explain the decision. In your case, you are keeping on hold the decision till you are able to find a valid reason to go to b-school.

life is good as long as you enjoy what you are doing. i really don't think there are good or bad jobs. it depends on what an individual likes.

good luck in whatever u decide

thanks for the tip on internet/...

cheers
