what is the validity of the guarantee? What's the penalty that the site is willing to pay the user if there is indeed an error? Also whats the recourse if the taxman comes running at my back???

1. The site takes care of filing you tax returns only and is not responsible for wrong information entered by you. Our calculations have been verified by two independent CA firms.
2. If there is a mistake from TaxYantra's side like loss of ITR, Calculation mistakes, Wrong filing etc we do whatever is required to correct the mistake AT OUR COST. We do double checks during our operations, including manual checking of calculations to minimize the errors.
3. In case the "taxman comes running after you" we will take care of it for an extra fee. However all liability is yours. This is the standard practice followed by all CA's.

Hope this answers your question
