Past is the Truth

Was watching this movie where the hero invents time machine to go back in time to correct a mistake he makes that costs his lover's life. He travels back and takes her through some other route to avoid meeting the robber that killed her. She dies nonetheless because of some other accident. Since her death was the prime motive for the invention of time machine, he cannot use time machine to save her - her death is a part of the timeline.

There are some parts - incidents; relations; episodes; et al - of our past which we do not want to relate to; which we would like to change. By suppressing our memory (not necessarily consciously), we try that ; we tend to erase past. But, past still cannot be changed. Past is the truth.

PS:
1.Master Oogway says - There are no accidents / One often meets his destiny on the road he takes to avoid it. I agree with a small amendment - only in past. In future, there are accidents; also, free will exists.
2. Reference is to an individual's past. History is many times interpretation.
3. There is a lie; but the truth.
