Gandhi's India?

Was watching Gandhi for the nth time. Were all those efforts - not just of Gandhi's but those of everyone - worth it? I doubt - what happened is that the British were replaced by a worse kind!

It feels sad when we look back at the opportunities wasted. Yes, we should look forward to a better India, not necessarily to what has gone wrong. But many people have lived and died in poverty and despair. Who is accountable? That God will take account of things gives little relief to those dead and their kin.

Before we get optimistic about India's future, a real India tour - as Gandhi does in this film - is highly desirable.

PS:
=btw, Gandhi's India never happened. He wanted one united India.
=Also, don't know why he chose (not just now; even then we were not a true Democracy) Nehru as the PM. Nehru was a great intellect. When one spends 25+ years in jail reading books, what else can one become. But unfortunately for India, Nehru chose to read wrong books.
