Discovery has spent huge amounts on a 10-part series on the private life of Shah Rukh Khan.

It is commonly believed - SRK does not have great looks; he doesn't have height; doesn't dance very well; and is not a great actor either. Barring DDLJ, not many super hits in his name. Not a single movie of his released in 2009.

Yet, the appeal and equity of the brand SRK have only gone up. He hobnobs with bigwigs in Industry and Politics. Rather, everyone wants to be around him. The hoopla around MNIK is unprecedented.

How did he manage such super brand status? A case study will be a great lesson in Marketing.

PS: Surprisingly, SRK is amazing in the trailers of MNIK. After so many years, he figured out which character he can play best.

Update - Billu released in 2009. But then, it was not a typical film with SRK as hero.
