Earth Hour

Earth Hour - such orchestrated tamasha. Why Earth Hour only once a year; why not Earth Hour everyday; why not Earth Month. Why don't we get back to the stone age.

Progress is a trade-off. It is progress when positives of something are greater than the negatives.

-Given that Markets are usually efficient, when something does not meet this equation, it dies out
-It does not mean that all people will benefit out of progress

Some ages; some regions; some people pay the price.  When a dam is built, it will negatively affect a section of people, but that is the price. Reservations were required to offset the consistent disservice done to a section of society for over two millenia. Post Independent India's youth pay the price (I have personally paid this price, because my ancestors were arrogant enough to treat a section of society as inferior).

And why do we underestimate human ability. Remember Malthus?

PS:
- More on global warming - Climategate  & Colder winters; global warming
-Btw, all lights will be on at my home during Earth Hour
- Reservations are being used for political purposes and have thus become a market failure

Vijay, i wish , you had gathered some facts regarding earth hour and got the essence of Earth hour before terming it as "orchestrated crap ".

Earth hour is more of a symbol than a way to save the energy.

Anybody can have an opinion, what distinguishes the wise is, he or she is able to balance the extreme perspectives.

What makes you think I did not look at the facts?

I am always open to change, based on facts and logic. Not because the majority believes in something or because of mushy symbolism and motivated pitches. Please feel free to present facts and logic.

And surely I am not amongst the wise.

Thanks for dropping by and your comments.
Cheers
