To vote is my dharma?

I, an ordinary citizen of this country, go out during every election and vote. I have hoped for the last many decades that my life would improve - partly thanks to my efforts and partly because of the various governments' initiatives.

But, No.

I voted for Nehru. While he appartenly believed in and is a product of democracry, he also wedded himself to the USSR's communism and dictatorship. He tried good, but f**ked the country up nonetheless. Last but not least, he ensured his megalomaniac daughter continued in power.

His daughter added insult to injury. She never had his good intentions, and consequently compounded my problems. All she was interested in was herself. To keep power - India became Indira; Indira became India. Garibi Hatao was the shibboleth but garibi was consistently maintained because that was the only way she kept power.

She died. Her son, who had no reason to suck up to power, coz he never was into it, became a victim to it. He built a coterie and along with it consistently wasted a great opportunity. His mother and him gave blessings to sycophancy.

Then came an outsider. He started with a bang. That was more out of desperation. But soon gave into party politics. To remain in power, he did one thing - nothing.

The story has been no better since.

I voted YSR to power. YSR looted me for over 6 years and, , if various reports are to be believed, amassed INR 700 billion networth for him and his family. Don't know how much he was able to take along when he died.

I voted Mayawati to power. She systematically got richer, while I became poorer. She gets her garland. I get to live without power for 14 hours.

I see no hope. Yet, everyone tell me to go and vote. To vote is not only my right and duty, but also my dharma, as some Singh was haranguing over FM Radio.

My dharma to keep him in power and make him and his kin richer.
