Chidu gets it wrong

Chidambaram sets 2-3 years time frame to contain Naxals.
----------------------------
he said, the "challenge has to be met squarely and fearlessly...It is a serious law and order problem

Chidambaram said, "We will be able to substantially contain and control this menace in about two-three years. We have to set for ourselves a time horizon."
 --------------------------
He must be kidding. It is not a law & order problem alone. Save a few ill-motivated individuals, people would not be interested in getting into Naxalism if they had equal opportunities. If people had enough to eat and could send their kids to schools, why would they want to get into a life of violence and hiding.

Containing Naxalism is impossible if the government thinks it is the exclusive concern of the Home Ministry. All the ministries should come together to ensure development is at the centre of handling the Naxal issue. The Home Ministry, of course, has a role - make sure that innocent people are not killed because of uncalled-for violence by either the Naxals or the Police/CRPF.

I would expect 20-30 years time frame to be reasonable if we started now and in right earnestness.
